Eddie Karl

Eddie originates, structures, underwrites, negotiates, and manages investments with the Healthcare industry for NXT Capital’s Direct Lending Group.

Eddie has over 8 years of direct lending experience within the Healthcare industry. Prior to joining NXT Capital in 2017, Eddie began his career at Ernst & Young working in their audit practice.

Eddie earned a B.S. in Finance and Accounting from Indiana University.

Mitchell Gruesen

Mitchell originates, underwrites, and manages investments as a member of NXT Capital’s dedicated healthcare team.

Mitchell has nearly 15 years of direct lending experience in the healthcare sector. Prior to joining NXT Capital in 2022, Mitchell held senior underwriting roles on healthcare corporate finance teams at Bank of Ireland and Ally Corporate Finance. Mitchell began his career at Fifth Third Bank as a credit analyst in the Healthcare Financial Sponsors Group.

Mitchell earned a B.B.A. from the Max M. Fisher College of Business at The Ohio State University.

Julia Allman

Julia originates, structures, underwrites, negotiates and manages investments for NXT Capital’s Direct Lending Group.

Julia has over 8 years of leveraged finance experience. Prior to joining NXT Capital in 2016, Julia began her career at Ernst & Young working in their audit practice.

Julia earned a B.S. in Finance and Accounting from Indiana University and holds a CPA license (inactive).

Dan Polaneczky

Dan originates, structures, underwrites, negotiates and manages investments for NXT Capital’s Direct Lending Group.

Dan has over 10 years of direct lending experience. Prior to joining NXT Capital in 2014, Dan began his career at PNC Bank working in their Corporate and Institutional Banking group.

Dan earned a B.A. in Economics from the University of Chicago.

Kirk Hovde

Kirk originates, structures, underwrites, negotiates, and manages investments for NXT Capital’s Direct Lending Group.

Kirk has over 10 years of direct lending experience. Before joining NXT Capital in 2012, Kirk performed financial due diligence for private equity transactions in PwC’s transaction services group. Kirk began his career at Deloitte in their audit practice.

Kirk earned a B.B.A. and a Master’s in Accounting from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.

Steven Young

Steven originates, structures, underwrites, negotiates and manages investments for NXT Capital’s Direct Lending Group.

Steven has over 10 years of direct lending experience. Prior to joining NXT Capital in 2014, Steven began his career at Deloitte in their audit practice.

Steven earned a B.S. in Finance and Accounting from Miami University. He also holds a CFA® charter.

Jeff White

Jeff originates, underwrites, and manages investments for NXT Capital’s Direct Lending Group.

Jeff has over 11 years of direct lending experience. Prior to joining NXT Capital in 2014, Jeff began his career at Ernst & Young working in their audit and transaction services practices.

Jeff earned a B.S. in Finance and Accounting from Miami University.

Joseph Levenstein

Joseph serves as Co-Head of Special Situations and member of NXT Capital’s Direct Lending Group, where he is responsible for managing challenged investments.

Joseph brings nearly 20 years of finance experience to NXT Capital. Prior to joining NXT Capital, Joseph was a member of GE Antares Restructuring Group, where he managed troubled and high-profile investments. Joseph began his career at General Electric where he completed the Financial Management Program (FMP) and Corporate Audit Staff (CAS) leadership development programs.

Joseph earned a Bachelor of Science in Finance from the University of Connecticut.

Cary Verasco

Cary focuses on loan originations and managing private equity sponsor relationships.

Cary brings over 18 years of investment banking and leveraged finance experience to NXT Capital. His most recent role was as a Senior Vice President in the Financial Sponsors Group at Jefferies LLC, where he served as coverage officer for a broad range of private equity clients, focusing on relationship management and expansion, transaction origination and execution. Prior to that, he held a number of roles at Jefferies LLC, including Vice President in the Financial Sponsors Group, Vice President in the Leveraged Finance Group and several other positions within the Investment Banking Division.

Cary earned a B.B.A. with distinction from the Stephen M. Ross School of Business at the University of Michigan.

Garett Gilles

Garett brings over 20 years of commercial finance experience to NXT Capital and focuses on building and maintaining NXT Capital’s relationships with middle market private equity sponsors located primarily in the Midwest and West regions. His responsibilities include originating, structuring and closing of private credit transactions.

Prior to NXT Capital, Garett was at GE Antares Capital and Merrill Lynch Capital, where he executed and managed cash flow loan transactions for middle-market private equity sponsors. He started his career in commercial banking at LaSalle Bank.

Garett earned a B.B.A. in Finance from the University of Wisconsin and an M.B.A. in Finance and Management Strategy from Northwestern University’s Kellogg School of Management.
