As Chief Compliance Officer (“CCO”), Brian is responsible for leading the internal processes for promoting and ensuring NXT Capital’s compliance with laws, regulations, and company policies. He is also responsible for implementing NXT Capital’s policies and procedures, including its Code of Ethics, and making sure they are communicated and trained upon across the company.
Brian has over 25 years of compliance experience, much of that acting in a CCO capacity. Prior to joining NXT Capital, he held the CCO role at Intrinsic Edge Capital Management, LLC, Institutional Capital LLC and Mesirow Financial. Brian also spent nearly five years at Northern Trust where he managed the firm’s Investment Management and Treasury audit program.
Brian earned a B.S. in Marketing from Eastern Illinois University.
James manages NXT Capital’s day-to-day legal operations, advising the executive management team and other business leaders on legal affairs and corporate transactions.
James has over 23 years of legal experience in corporate, M&A, venture capital, corporate finance, securities, and litigation matters. Before joining NXT Capital, he served as the Chief Legal Officer for Velocity Financial Group, where he was responsible for all legal affairs and documentation for financings. Previously, James was a partner in the corporate and securities practice group at the law firm Shefsky & Froelich. Prior to joining Shefsky & Froelich, James was an associate at Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom, and Jenner & Block. During this time, James advised clients on a variety of complex business matters in numerous transactions, such as stock and asset acquisitions and dispositions, tender offers and other stock repurchases, IPOs, exchange offers and shelf registrations, joint ventures and other strategic alliances, start-up formation and financing, and Sarbanes-Oxley compliance. He also has counseled issuers and investment banking firms in public offerings and private placements of debt and equity securities.
James earned a B.S. in finance, summa cum laude, from Arizona State University, an M.B.A., highest honors, and a J.D., summa cum laude, from the University of Illinois.
Kelli heads the Investor Solutions team, leading the development, implementation, and ongoing program management of private debt funds and separate accounts. She is also actively involved in raising third party capital developing new and maintaining existing investor relationships.
Kelli’s 25+ year career in middle-market commercial finance includes extensive asset management experience. Before joining NXT Capital in 2010, she was a Managing Director of 250 Capital (a wholly-owned subsidiary of Merrill Lynch & Co.). Prior to that, Kelli was a senior member at Merrill Lynch Capital with responsibility for new loan origination, as well as structuring, underwriting, closing and ongoing portfolio management of both middle-market and broadly syndicated loans. Before joining Merrill Lynch Capital in 2002, Kelli spent 10 years at GE Capital/Heller Financial, Inc. She began her career with various consulting roles at Arthur Andersen & Co., TSC, Inc.
Kelli earned a B.S. in Applied Computer Science from Illinois State University and an M.B.A. from The University of Chicago Booth School of Business.
Stacia is responsible for all aspects of NXT Capital’s risk management activities which include Loan Review, operational risk management, corporate governance and the company’s risk rating models and applications. She manages the information technology, data governance and the loan servicing team. Stacia also is a member of NXT Capital’s Credit and Investment Committees.
Most recently, Stacia was NXT Capital’s Managing Director of Risk Management, where she was instrumental in developing the company’s Loan Review and Risk Management processes. Prior to joining NXT Capital, she was the Director of Risk Management at Merrill Lynch Capital. Stacia also spent 14 years with Heller Financial and GE Capital, where her positions included Senior Vice President of Loan Review, as well as Underwriter, Portfolio Manager and Auditor in the Corporate Finance group.
Stacia holds a B.S. in Accounting from the University of Illinois.
Joe serves as Co-Head and Senior Managing Director of NXT Capital and Senior Vice President of NXT Capital Investment Advisers, LLC.
Joe is jointly responsible for setting the strategic direction and overseeing all aspects of NXT Capital’s middle market private debt strategy. He supervises and manages all risk-related activities in the Direct Lending Group. His responsibilities include overseeing evaluation; structuring, diligence and closing new transactions; portfolio management, account monitoring and reporting; maintenance and compliance with NXT Capital’s Policies and Procedures; and restructuring activity. Joe also is a member of NXT Capital’s Credit and Investment Committees.
Joe has over 20 years of middle market leveraged lending experience, having held positions that include client relationship development and new business origination, transaction structuring and underwriting, negotiating and closing transactions, ongoing portfolio management and distressed debt evaluation and acquisition. Joe’s middle market lending experience also includes working at Merrill Lynch Capital and Heller Financial, as well as Golub Capital and LaSalle Bank.
Joe earned a B.S. in Business Administration from Valparaiso University and an M.B.A in Finance and Accounting from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business. He is a CFA® charterholder.
