Setting NXT Capital’s strategic direction, leading and motivating its staff and defining and implementing the company’s investment and credit criteria are high priorities among Robert’s wide range of responsibilities.
Prior to founding NXT Capital, Robert led the formation and management of Merrill Lynch Capital from its inception until it was sold to GE Capital. Robert and his team grew Merrill Lynch Capital into a middle market commercial finance leader that managed $20 billion of loan commitments on balance sheet and $12 billion for other parties.
Robert’s extensive experience includes senior positions with Heller Financial, where he was Executive Vice President of Corporate Strategy and Development responsible for the company’s strategic planning, business development and mergers & acquisitions worldwide. Robert also served as Group President of Heller Healthcare Finance and played an instrumental role in structuring and negotiating Heller’s sale to GE Capital.
Robert is a member of the board of directors of CDK Global, a leading provider of integrated information technology and digital marketing and advertising solutions to the automotive retail industry. He is also actively involved in the Kelly Hall YMCA, a community center that serves under-privileged children in Chicago’s West Humboldt Park neighborhood.
Robert holds a B.S. from Syracuse University and an M.B.A. from Santa Clara University.
